The availability of a high-density distribution fiber optic cable—designated ACP (Aramid Connect Plenum)—has been announced by Berk-Tek. The company developed the small-diameter cable to suit MPO connectors; its diameter is 3 mm and contains 12 colour-coded fibers (each with a 250µm coating). Without a preferential bend, the round cable provides a “compact, flexible structure for use where space is limited". While targeting the data centre market, ACP can be used in other applications, as it also boasts: single-mode, multimode 50/125 micron (OM2 through OM4+) and 62.5/125 micron (OM1) fibers; aluminum or steel interlocked armour (OFCP listed).
