Berk-Tek (a Nexans company) introduced its new 10G limited distance (LD) UTP cable, which features a reduction, says the company, in the cable diameter versus existing Cat 6A UTP cables (0.265-in. diameter). The cable is designed to support IEEE 802.3an 10GBase-T to a maximum distance of 60 metres, specifically in high-density applications like data centres. Berk-Tek 10G LD meets all IEEE 802.3an channel performance requirements when terminated with Cat 6A connectivity; it also meets all TIA-568-C.2 internal requirements for Cat 6A component compliance (500 MHz) at these distances.
