Berk-Tek, a Nexans Company, has received the “Best in Network Support Solutions” award for the OneReach PoE Extender system in the Security Industry Association (SIA) New Product Showcase (NPS)–the first time a cabling manufacturer has won this award, it said.

The NPS boasts of an expanded list of product categories and the largest
display area ever. “For the buying community – dealers, consultants,
specifiers, integrators and security professionals – the NPS is a
trusted and valued source for information on the latest products and
technologies available,” it added.

Now in its 33rd year, the NPS was established to recognize innovative
products, services and solutions in electronic physical security. This
is the first year that the Network Support Solutions category has been
added to NPS. Other award categories, which totaled 21, included video
surveillance cameras and support equipment, video storage and software,
intrusion detection, biometrics and access control.

“As surveillance systems are moving towards IP and relying on a
structured cabling infrastructure, the award categories are expanding to
accommodate these emerging technologies,” said Mike Connaughton, RCDD,
Fiber Optic Products Business Manager at Berk-Tek, who accepted the
award from SIA’s CEO Richard Chace at the ceremony.  “We are proud to be
the first cabling manufacturer acknowledged through this prestigious
recognition,” he added.

The OneReach PoE Extender system is a solution comprised of PoE media
converters and Berk-Tek’s CL3R-OF (Class 3, NEC rated) copper and
optical fiber composite cable.  By utilizing this system, Berk-Tek says
IP PoE cameras can be supported at distances of up to 4,000 feet without
the need for an electrical outlet at the camera end.
