BICSI surpasses 500 RTPM credential holders
April 19, 2013 | By Anthony Capkun

April 19, 2013 – BICSI—an international association supporting the information technology systems (ITS) industry—announced there are now more than 500 industry professionals who hold BICSI’s newest credential of Registered Telecommunications Project Manager (RTPM).
The RTPM program was launched in September 2012 to support those who oversee and coordinate the interaction between designers, engineers, installers and technicians when new ITS projects are being developed or undergoing construction.
Today’s telecom project managers are required to possess knowledge of mechanical, electrical and telecom systems, says BICSI, as well as to be familiar with the entire scope of a telecom project from planning to implementation. The RTPM credential recognizes those individuals who have demonstrated both the knowledge and the ability to apply it over the multiple facets within telecom and ITS project management.
The RTPM program covers an ITS project from bid to completion. It provides the student with a basic understanding of project management concepts and tools, and will focus on construction projects as they relate to ITS design and installation projects. Primary project types discussed include telecom, information technology, outside plant and wireless design.
