BetaLED introduced the LEDway single light module (SLM) to its line of LEDway streetlight products designed to “replace existing traditional cobrahead systems along residential streets,” says BetaLED. The new luminaire offers more than 90 lumens per watt and uses a LED chip package. The LEDway SLM streetlight can be configured up to 60 LEDs and feature NanoOptic product technology. It is compatible with existing pole mounting configurations and can be mounted to a vertical or horizontal tenon for “increased flexibility.” It is also IP-66 rated and UL, cUL, ENEC, and CE compliant. Other options include an occupancy sensor, two-level capabilities and dimming. BETALED
BetaLED announced their first designer series product - with the help of Ferrara Palladino designers - called the FP-90 street and area luminaire. Available with 40 to 90 LEDs, the FP-90 is engineered to “incorporate new technology without having to replace the entire luminaire,” says BetaLED. It comes with a tenon mount attached with an adjustable arm or to the pole top with +/-10 degrees pitch. It also has an IP-66 ingress protection rating and 19 different configurations with NanoOptic product technology (options include: occupancy sensor, backlight shield, and various photocell options). Shat-R-Shield – a manufacturer of shatter-resistant lamps – announced their new line of “technologically advanced metal halide lamps,” says the company. The for new Ceramic Discharge Metal Halide (CDM) lamps are designed for retrofitting applications and offers up to 20,000 hrs of light (according to Shat-R-Shield). The lamp performance is 205 or 330-watt, 100 lumen per watt, and colour rending up to 90 CRI. They are offered in two-bulb size (ED37 and ED28), two wattages (330 and 205 watts), and two finishes (clear and frosted). The lamps are classified UL-EPH and are NSF certified.SHAT-R-SHIELD
PV Powered, an Advanced Energy company, announced the availability of two new commercial inverters at 35kW and 50kW. The PVP35kW and the PVP50kW have been “designed for 20+ year operating lifetimes,” says the release. They feature a new performance monitoring section that is separate from the high power section of the inverter. The products feature the company’s Smart Air Management system and features front-access service, bottom and side AC/DC cable entry, cable bending area and fusing options, and a circuit board card cage. According to the release they have “the ability to deliver full power at 50oC at 295 VDC input [and] boast a 96.6%” to “97.1% estimated peak efficiency.” The inverters feature a standard 10-year nationwide warranty with an optional 20-year warranty.PV POWERED

Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. and PV Powered announced the introduction of PV inverter products and the expansion of service offerings at the Intersolar 2010 show. The show took place Jul 13-15 in San Francisco, CA and featured the 500kW solar inverter, the SiteGuardSM program, and the PV Powered 35kW and 50kW commercial inverters. PV Powered explains the 500kW solar inverters are for “utility scale, large commercial, and ground mount grid-tied PV installations". This product family includes the Solaron 500kW 600V bipolar, the 500kW 1000V, and the PV Powered 500kW 600V meant to “enable customers to optimize the levelized cost of energy.” The SiteGuardSM (Solar Maintenance) program has been extended to cover all the company’s commercial grid-tied inverter products and features the SafeGuard 99% uptime guarantee. The PV Powered 35kW and 50kW commercial inverters are “uniquely-sized models” that are the “perfect solution for small-to-midrange commercial applications,” says the company. SunRise Power Corporation - a distributor and manufacturer in Peterborough, Ont. - in partnership with Solectria Renewables - a developer and manufacturer of inverters for renewable energy - announced that its commercial inverter line up is now available. The line of grid-tied photovoltaic inverters include 10, 13, 15, 30 , 50, 60, 82, and 95kW units. WEG Electric Corp – a supplier of motors, drives, controls, transformers, and generators – announced its addition of two energy-efficient motors called the Quattro and the W22 Super Premium. Quattro is a magnet motor that features a three-phase distributed winding in the stator. This motor operates at “synchronous speed regardless of the load,” says the release. It also has the same frame size as an induction motor, no requirement for a feedback device, low bearing temperature, and inverter-driven multi-motor operation. The W22 Super Premium motor operates with low noise levels and high torques. It has a “1.25 Service Factor through the 447T frame size” and energy-efficient, says the release.WEG ELECTRIC
SolaHD – a company that specializes in identifying and providing industrial power quality solutions – has published a new “Power Quality Guidebook”. This book equips professionals with the latest engineering techniques for providing power quality to manufacturing facilities, according to SolaHD. McCormick Systems have released “electrical estimating by hand” classes in response to requests from electrical and building systems contractors. These classes cover the elements of electrical estimating with one focusing on the basics and the other on the more advanced offering. Todd McCormick the president of McCormick Systems, suggests that those looking for a refresher should take the basic class. Delmar Publishing Partnership with the National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (NJATC) Delmar announced the publication of two new titles: AC Theory, 3rd Edition and Building a Foundation in Mathematics, 2nd Edition. The books by Delmar – part of Cengage Learning, a provider of learning solutions for career development and education – are to be used by students in electrical apprenticeship programs around North America, says the release. AC Theory, 3rd Edition “provides electrician apprentices with a thorough introduction to electrical characteristics and circuit construction. Building on the basics established in the study of direct current theory,” explains the release. The book contains an overview of the primary components of AC circuits, the application of AC principles in power generation/generators, troubleshooting and evaluating circuit conditions, amongst other topics. Brady Worldwide, Inc. introduced a software update to its LabelMark Label Design Software. Both the Standard and Professional versions have usability enhancements including more features and design tools. The LabelMark 5.2 offers toolbar customization, allowing users to customize commands and options for any toolbar, and an expanded parts database, which include part numbers with prefixes HX, 2HX, ZH, and 2ZH. Also the LabelMark Professional software has new edit and import options that allow users to stretch rotated objects, batch import files from previous versions, and convert Heatex text files (another software by Brady).BRADY
Lind Equipment introduced a new work light called the XP300LED. The light is rechargeable and approved for Class 1, Division 1, Group C&D locations in Canada and the U.S., according to the release. The light has three 3W bright LEDs that have “seven hours of run time on a single charge.” The polycarbonate lens that covers the LEDs can be adjusted to change the beam setting from work to flood lighting. The XP300LED can also be paired with a pivoting light head, a hanging hook, or a wrist strap. Greenlee, a Textron Inc. company, introduced the new 9522 Hanging Cable Dispenser as a “faster and easier way for contractors to dispense NM type cables,” says the release. The 9522 holds a spool of up to 75 lbs. of NM or MC cable and spins to dispense wire. The dispenser collapses and folds so it can be stored in the included bag. It is made from aluminum tubing, steel hooks and joint plates, and nylon straps. It weighs 3-1/2 lbs.GREENLEE
Greenlee updated its 6810 Cable Feeder to be “more effective when used with low friction cables such as Southwire SIMpull,” explains the release. Due to this update, the feeder nor comes equipped with new tires that are capable of operating pressures up to 50 psi compared to 22 psi from previous tires. Other than the tires, no changes have been made to the 6810, “including the price.” A package of two tires and wheels along with instructions for making the conversion are available for customers who already own a 6810.GREENLEE
Ridgid release a new multi-tool kit called the Ridgid 12V JobMax System R82235. The tool runs off Ridgid’s 12V lithium-ion battery and has five interchangeable heads (that are sold separately). The interchangeable heads are the Impact Driver, Right Angle 3/8” drill, 3/8”ratchet, Multi-Tool head, and AutoHammer head. Ideal Industries, Inc. is offering a 5-in-1 non-conductive screwdriver that “address[es] the safety concerns of electricians,” says the release. The yellow handled, bonded orange insulation shaft tool includes four bits that are magnetically secured in place: a ¼ inch slotted, a 3/16 inch slotted, #1 Philips, #2 Philips, and a built-in ¼ inch nutdriver. The interior of the handle stores up to eight standard bits. In addition, the tool meets ASTM F1505-94 and IEC900 standards, and complies with OSHA 1910.335 regulations and NFPA 70E standards. Ideal Industries, Inc. brings safety with its infrared (IR) non-contact thermometer. According to Ideal, the thermometer “allows users to measure surface temperatures of live circuits, difficult-to-reach objects, or moving parts from a comfortable distance to create a safer work environment.” It uses IR heat-sensing technology and has a built-in socket that supports Type K thermocouple probes. Also the thermometer uses “point-and-shoo” style measuring with a 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio. It can detect temperatures through the built-in laser pointer from -60°C to 500°C. On its backlit LCD, maximum, minimum, average and differential temperature readings will display once measured and can be given alarm warnings based on temperature highs and lows. Milwaukee Electric Tool Corp. expands their Lithium-Ion system with the M12 Cordless Fork Meter for current measurement, voltage measurement, voltage detection and task lighting. The four-in-one True-RMS electrical tester is designed for residential, commercial and industrial applications. It has a 0.63” jaw opening, 200 Amps, a 12V voltage and voltage range to 1000 volts AC/DC. Additionally, it offers Lo-Z measurements to “eliminate ghost voltage”, a large white on black display “for clearer readings”, a slide rail system “to add proprietary accessories” and rugged over-molding “for increased durability and grip,” explains Milwaukee. Overall it has over 20 compatible drilling, fastening, lighting and cutting tools that all use the same battery. It has a safety rating of CAT IV 6000V/CAT III 1000V.
