Brazeau County completes 300MWh solar PV installation
June 5, 2017 By Anthony Capkun

June 5, 2017 – Brazeau County, Alta., and ENMAX announced the completion of three solar electricity projects, comprising over 900 solar modules atop the Lodgepole Fire Hall, Rocky Rapids Water Treatment Plant and the County Administration building.
The entire solar array consists of 902 solar PV modules covering about 19,000 sf, and a maximum capacity of 280 kW DC.
Combined, the installations will annually generate about 300MWh. Brazeau County’s Reeve Bart Guyon said these projects “are an important first step that positions us well in relation to Alberta’s new carbon levy, which is set to increase”.
Funding for the project came, in part, through the Climate Change & Emissions Management Corp.’s (CCEMC) support of ENMAX Energy’s solar leasing project. From 2010 to 2016, CCEMC provided funding alongside ENMAX’s commitment to advance solar adoption in Alberta.
