Burndy introduces 2016 bolted wedge in-line disconnect switch

September 1, 2016 | By Renée Francoeur

September 1, 2016 – Burndy says its bolted wedge in-line disconnect switch combines a bolted-wedge hybrid connector with industry standard components for reliable switch/distribution line connections.

The switch features MindCore Technologies blade components, as well as Advanced Rubber Products Inc. insulators attached to a Burndy-designed yoke plate assembly. It is ideal for use in gloving and hot stick applications, the company notes, when paired with a loadbreak tool.

The switch, which uses dual insulators, can be snapped directly onto the line and secured with the Burndy conductor pivot retainer.

The bolted wedge connector system also increases the range of conductors it accommodates. Two switches now accommodate conductors ranging from 1/0 ACSR up to 556.6 (26/7) ACSR.
