Klein Tools acquires Ergodyne

September 6, 2018 | By Peter Saunders

September 6, 2018 – Klein Tools, a manufacturer of hand tools for electricians and other tradespeople, has acquired Ergodyne, which develops gear for workers on job sites, including hand, knee, head, eye and foot protection.

Tom Votel will remain president of Ergodyne, operating it as a separate business unit at its current headquarters (HQ) in St. Paul, Minn. Together, Klein Tools and Ergodyne (which were founded in 1857 and 1983, respectively) plan to combine their established brands.

“Ergodyne and Klein Tools have much in common, including our reputations for producing high-quality products,” says Tom Klein Jr., co-president of Klein Tools. “We believe our combined resources will enable us to grow more quickly together than we could separately.”

“We can’t wait to propel our success in the safety space forward with this historic partnership,” says Votel.
