March 9, 2019 – Legrand North and Central America (LNCA), which supplies power, light and data systems for workplaces, homes and data centres, has entered a definitive agreement to acquire Universal Electric, which develops power distribution systems.

With the deal, LNCA plans to broaden its product offerings and expand its market share in the data centre sector. Universal Electric will become part of its data power and control division, joining such brands as Server Technology, Raritan, AFCO, Electrorack and Ortronics.

“Universal Electric’s products have revolutionized electrical power distributing in data centres,” says John Selldorff, president and CEO of LNCA. “Legrand has enjoyed significant growth in this market by focusing on best-of-breed products. With this acquisition, we will be providing better solutions for our customers.”

The companies expect to close the transaction by late April, upon fulfilment of standard closing conditions.
