January 2, 2017 – Plan Group Inc. has been chosen as the electrical sub-contractor for the Mackenzie Vaughan Hospital project.

Located just north of the GTA in the city of Vaughan, Ont. the new hospital is “the first hospital to be built in the city of Vaughan and the first new hospital to be built in the York Region in the last 30 years”, Plan Group announced. It will also be the first hospital in Canada to feature “fully integrated ‘smart’ technology”, it added.

The project’s scope includes the construction of a 342-bed (at opening), 1,200,000-sf full service Acute Care Facility (with room for growth to 550 beds in the future). Plan Group says the integrated “smart” digital technology systems will deliver “the right information to the right care location at the right time”.

Plan Group’s contract with PCL Constructors Canada Inc. will include electrical and low voltage systems and security systems.
“This is another opportunity for Plan Group to once again be on the forefront of innovation,” said Paul Sheridan, president and COO of Plan Group. “We are very excited to bring our skills, experience and expertise to Canada’s first ‘smart’ hospital.”
