Canada recognized at 30th annual GE Edison Awards competition

April 30, 2013 – Canada scooped up three awards at this year’s GE Edison Awards competition, an international contest to lighting professionals who demonstrate creative and significant use of GE light sources (lamps and/or LEDs) in a lighting design project completed during the previous year.

Winners include:
2012 GE Edison Awards of Merit
• The Burlington Performing Arts Centre of Burlington, Ont.

Contributing architects: Michael Treacy and Eric Lucassen, Diamond Schmitt Architects

A panel of five judges—which included Canada’s own Ellen Godson of Angus Lighting/H.H. Angus & Associates Ltd.—selected this year’s winning entries based on the following categories: functional excellence; architectural compatibility; effective use of state-of-the-art lighting products and techniques; appropriate color, form and texture revelation; energy effectiveness; and cost effectiveness.

Awards were presented by GE Lighting on April 22, 2013 during Lightfair International, one of North America’s largest lighting shows.
