Canadian Solar closes $300-million+ EPC deal with Kingston

June 27, 2014 – Canadian Solar Inc.’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Canadian Solar Solutions Inc., has entered into a $300-million+ EPC (engineering, procurement & construction) agreement with Kingston Solar LP, a solar energy project developed by Samsung Renewable Energy Inc. for the construction of a 140MW utility-scale solar energy farm.

Construction of the farm will begin in Q3 2014, and is expected to be fully operational in by Q3 2015. This is Canadian Solar’s second EPC agreement in connection with a solar project developed by Samsung, and represents Phase II of Samsung’s Green Energy Investment Agreement (GEIA) solar project development in Ontario, which totals 300MWAC.

The 140MW farm will produce about 173,000MWh of electricity annually. It will include more than 464,000 Ontario-made modules, and is expected to support over 700 manufacturing jobs at Canadian Solar facilities in London and Guelph, Ontario.
