The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) and the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association’s (CEDIA) R10 Residential Systems committee have published CEA/CEDIA-CEB23 “Home Theatre Design”. This industry bulletin provides guidelines for calculating screen size and design systems for video devices, including HDTVs.
“CEA projects more than 31 million HDTV sets will be sold in 2010. With
increased consumer adoption of HDTV, accurate home theatre design
parameters are essential to provide consumers with a high-quality
viewing experience,” said Brian Markwalter, vice-president of research
and standards for CEA. “This new bulletin provides valuable guidelines
to manufacturers and the ESC [electronic systems contractor] industry,
ultimately leading to maximum performance in home theatre design for
consumers.”
“CEB23 is a recommended guideline that will enable the ESC community to
design a high-performance home theatre through accurate measurement of
screen size and systems design,” said Dave Pedigo, CEDIA senior director
of technology. “This bulletin, in addition to future documents CEA and
CEDIA are working to create, provides information to assist ESCs in
preparing for certification exams and will help to further advancement
in home theatre design.”
