Saying they will help utilities more reliably and efficiently deliver electric power from generation facilities to businesses and homes, Cisco unveiled the first offerings in its new Connected Grid portfolio of smart grid communications solutions that focus on energy management and bettering the environment. In particular, the Cisco
2010 Connected Grid Router (CGR 2010) and Cisco 2520 Connected Grid
Switch (CGS 2520) are built for utility substation environments. They
are both designed to form a secure network to capture and analyze
information in near real-time from multiple substation electronic
devices. This allows for better management to maintain the power
transmission and distribution equipment, while also increasing
reliability of power deliver. This solution helps to extend
network-based security and management to substations. These products are
based on the Cisco IOS operating system, which delivers multiple
network services. Click below to learn more.
