Cisco debuts 60W Power Over Ethernet capability for Catalyst 4500E Switch

September 14, 2011 – Cisco announces 60W Power Over Ethernet (UPOE) capability for the Cisco Catalyst 4500E Switch, which it says can offer twice the power per port of products from competing switch vendors–providing both power and network access to a greater range of devices through a single standard Ethernet cable. The 60W UPOE utilizes standard Cat 5e or higher cabling and RJ45 connectors to enable
an easier deployment of this solution within existing infrastructures, Cisco adds.
