February 22, 2018 - Electro-Federation Canada has issued a Call for Participation from its members in a new LVDC (low-voltage DC) Steering Committee/Product Section, launching this Spring.
February 16, 2018 — UL has launched a new safety certification program for dry type high-voltage transformer insulation systems. These insulation systems are used within the transformer for transmission and distribution of electricity across the power grid.
January 18, 2018 — The fourth edition of CSA Z462 “Workplace Electrical Safety” is now available.
January 3, 2018 - The CSA Z463 Technical Committee is pleased to announce draft of the 2018 standard “Maintenance of electrical systems” (no longer a guideline) has been uploaded to the CSA Public Review website and made available for everyone to view and submit comments.
December 1, 2017 — The 2018 edition of the Canadian Electrical Code (CE Code) will be available on January 2, 2018. The CE Code is updated every three years to reflect the latest advances in technology and other major developments. The Canadian-based safety standard aims to better protect electrical workers and help make electrical installations and equipment safer. The 2018 edition contiains over 260 revisions and updates, including changes to sections on housing, renewable energy, grounding and bonding and tamper resistant receptacles. Pre-order here.
August 2, 2017 - To facilitate the practice of installing service conduits within building walls to improve a home’s exterior appearance, BC Hydro harmonized its requirements for concrete encasement of utility supply service raceways (120/240V up to 600A) installed within building walls, along with the BC Electrical Code requirement for consumer’s service raceways for residential supply services.
July 19, 2017 - CSA Z463 “Maintenance of electrical systems” has been adopted across Canada—even globally—since being first published in November 2013.
May 12, 2017 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in the U.S. has published NEMA ICS 5-2017 Industrial Control and Systems: Control Circuit and Pilot Devices. This standard applies to general purpose mechanical, electromechanical and solid-state devices that are used in industrial applications for control circuit switching and the control of solenoids rated not more than 600V.

April 13, 2017 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published a new standard, NEMA OS 4-2016 "Requirements for Air-Sealed Boxes for Electrical and Communication Applications". This standard establishes a performance test and classification scheme for electrical outlet boxes, wall boxes, ceiling boxes, and floor boxes designed to reduce air leakage through them and their installed interface with the building structure.
March 6, 2017 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) in the United States released a new energy management guide for polyphase induction motors: NEMA MG 10-2017 - Energy Management Guide for Selection and Use of Fixed Frequency Medium AC Squirrel-Cage Polyphase Induction Motors.

November 14, 2016 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has announced revisions to ANSI C119.4 (the standard for electric connectors—connectors for use between aluminum-to-aluminum and aluminum-to-copper conductors designed for normal operation at or below 93°C and copper-to-copper conductors designed for normal operation at or below 100°C), as made by the ANSI Accredited Standards Committee C119.
