January 22, 2016 - The IEEE Standards Association (IEEE-SA) in conjunction with IEEE Industry Applications Society (IAS) invites all interested parties to notify them if they wish to contribute to the revision of IEEE 515-2011 Standard for the Testing, Design, Installation, and Maintenance of Electrical Resistance Trace Heating for Industrial Applications.
December 18, 2015 - U.S.-based National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) says it has called on the California Energy Commission (CEC) to “ensure that consumers have access to the most efficient, cost-effective, and preferred LED bulbs currently on the market” by nixing proposed California Energy Code (CEC) colour specs for LED bulbs.

The Canadian Standards Association (CSA Group), however, has just published a new edition of two standards for power transmission and distribution.
December 10, 2015 - BC Safety Authority reports the Electrical Safety Regulation in British Columbia has been amended as per Ministerial Order M392 (see below), and is effective as of February 29, 2016. This provides for adoption of the 2015 Canadian Electrical Code—with BC amendments—as the BC Electrical Code 2015.
December 1, 2015 - The 2015 edition of the Ontario Electrical Safety Code has been finalized and is now available for purchase, says the Electrical Safety Authority (ESA). The Code comes into effect as regulation on May 5, 2016.

October 20, 2015 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published ANSI/NEMA WC 71 ICEA S-96-659-2014 Nonshielded Cables Rated 2001-5000 V for Use in the Distribution of Electric Energy. This standard applies to materials, constructions, and testing of 2001 through 5000V non-shielded power cables having insulations of thermoplastic polyethylene, cross-linked polyethylene or cross-linked rubber.
October 15, 2015 - IEEE has released IEEE 45.3-2015, the Recommended Practice for Shipboard Electrical Installations – Systems Engineering, which is designed to give recommendations for systems engineering, design, and integration of electrical power systems at the total ship level.
October 6, 2015 - ISO 9001, which, according BSI Group Canada, is the most widely-adopted quality management systems standard, has undergone another revision.
September 14, 2015 - The Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES) has published Sports and Recreational Area Lighting (IES RP-6-15), the most recent addition to IES Recommended Practices series.
July 29, 2015 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has published NEMA SBP 4-2015 Low Frequency Audible Signals.
July 27, 2015 - IEEE says it has enhanced IEEE 80 “Guide for Safety in AC Substation Grounding”. The guide now presents “more detailed information on the methods used to determine the current value to be used in the Guide design equations and presents new equations to determine the current capabilities of bi-metallic materials that can be used in ground grids”, the association says.

July 9, 2015 - The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (U.S.) published NEMA 5-2015, which provides information on the proper application and installation of surface non-metallic raceway permitted for use in dry and non-hazardous locations, and areas not subject to physical abuse, in accordance with CE Code-Part I (and NEC).
