Cooper Power Systems SMP 4/DP distribution processor

December 5, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

Cooper Power Systems says its new SMP 4/DP is the “most advanced automation and integration platform” of the SMP family product line. The distribution processor promises utilities secure and reliable data acquisition and management; its shape makes the SMP 4/DP suitable for automation and integration applications both in and outside the substation fence. Installed directly in protective relay enclosures or in the switchyard, this SMP gateway provides communication and data concentration features. SMP 4/DP is vendor-neutral, supporting over 100 protocols (including IEC 61850 and IEEE C37.118 [Synchrophasor]), and has been designed to operate over a broad temperature range.
