CSA Group announces new business model

November 9, 2010 | By Craig Pearson

Ash Sahi, president and CEO of CSA Group, announced a new operational structure designed to “accelerate CSA Group’s growth into expanding global markets while offering more efficient customer service”.

The move follows the announcement that Randall (Randy) W. Luecke, president, CSA International and OnSpeX, will retire from CSA Group. Luecke has served as divisional president with CSA International and OnSpeX since 1997. His responsibilities included all operational aspects of certification and testing, including prototype testing, field inspections, service quality, international operations and sales and marketing.

“Randy Luecke’s work has been invaluable for CSA Group,” said Sahi. “His leadership was instrumental in steering CSA International in global growth and in achieving the launch of the OnSpeX consumer product evaluation division. CSA Group will continue to build upon Randy’s achievements in these areas and we will honour his legacy by moving forward with a vision and strategic direction that focuses on global growth and superior service delivery.”

CSA International will streamline the responsibilities for client service delivery through a new leadership structure, with Glenn Tubrett appointed to VP Canada and Rich Weiser to VP U.S. and Mexico. Hans Pan will continue to serve as VP Asia Region and John Maheu as VP Europe region. Sue Dempsey continues her leadership and direction as VP and GM of OnSpeX. Global operations of CSA International and OnSpeX will be led by Sahi.

“CSA International customers operate globally and they require client service representatives who understand the markets in which they operate as well as those to which they are shipping their product,” said Weiser. “By realigning our leadership to better focus on local and regional client service delivery, CSA International has refined its operations to provide faster, effective and knowledgeable customer services locally, regionally and globally.”

CSA Group will further optimize North American operations by forming a new “internal network of excellence” to ensure all laboratories work more collaboratively to serve customers. The team will be led by Hélène Vaillancourt, executive VP engineering and science. The network of excellence will ensure testing and certification capacity will be maximized across all product areas, and that the new organizational structure will allocate optimal resources to address increased demand in select market sectors, including plumbing, electrical, solar, gas appliances and emerging technologies.
