Cummins Power Generation Inc. is offering an expanded warranty on all commercial generator sets, transfer switches and switchgear that, according to the company, makes it the most comprehensive coverage policy in the industry.

The warranty applies to all Cummins Power Generation-branded commercial
products shipped on or after March 1, 2009. The warranty provides
global coverage for any failures resulting from a defect in material.
It begins the date of initial start-up, first rental, demonstration or
18 months after factory ship date (whichever comes first). It covers
commercial products rated continuous power (unlimited hours), prime
power (unlimited hours) and limited-time running power (maximum of 500
hours) for one year.

The warranty coverage of a product with an emergency standby power
rating has been extended to two years or 400 hours (whichever comes
first). The warranty specifications relative to the power ratings match
or exceed those mentioned in the applicable standard set by the
International Organization for Standardization, says Cummins.

In the event of a product failure during the warranty period due to
defects in material or workmanship, Cummins Power Generation will be
responsible for all parts and labour required to repair the product,
reasonable travel expenses to and from the product’s location, and
maintenance items that are contaminated or damaged by a warrantable
failure.
