November 13, 2015 – Dewalt has launched its 20V Max battery adapter that works with most Dewalt 18V tools (DCA1820).

Dewalt’s nickel-cadmium (NiCd) and nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) batteries have been industry standards for over 15 years. Now however, Lithium Ion batteries have advanced the power-to-weight ratio of battery technology, the company explains.

This new adapter allows most of Dewalt’s 18V tools to operate off of the Lithium Ion battery technology.

The adapter comes packaged as a stand-alone unit (DCA1820) for $54.99 US or as a combo with two compact 2.0Ah batteries and a charger (DCA2203C) for $199 US.
