Diversified Technologies’ solid-state MVDC circuit breaker

January 23, 2018 — Diversified Technologies Inc. (DVI)’s PowerMod Solid-State DC Circuit Breaker features sub-microsecond opening and closing times. As a result, the breaker prevents the fault energy from reaching damaging levels and provides multi-kHz switching for continuous controlled power applications from 1-50 kVDC.  

Exhibiting over 99.7% switching efficiency and around 30 years MTBF, the circuit breaker supports micro-grid alternative sources and storage systems, including wind and solar power, battery storage and flywheels with various voltages, frequencies and power levels. Comprised of two 4.5 kV IGBT’s in series, each breaker measures 16-in. x 8-in. x 6-in.
