Dominican Republic Electrical College UPDATE

March 20, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

Back in August 2007, EBMag ran an article on “Contractors in the Community”, sharing stories of electrical contractors performing good deeds—both within their communities, and without. One of those stories was of John Vickery, an electrical contractor in Whitby, Ont., who was asked to help establish an electrical trade college in Consuelo, Dominican Republic.

John Vickery recently provided us an update and a photo of the work in the Dominican Republic. He writes: “Here’s a pic of where your time and money were spent. Thanks for your help… Ideal (Ajax), Hubbell (Ajax) and the Durham Board of Education have contributed a computer network system that should be heading down before the summer.”

Although the school is now established, the quest to secure sustainable funding is ongoing. Email john@vickeryelectric.com to learn how you can help.
