June 21, 2017* – While at MCEE 2017, I met François Côté, president of Drumco Énergie Inc., who was showing off the new Kohler KD industrial generator series, which ranges from 800 kVA to 4200 kVA, and is intended for applications ranging from emergency and prime in healthcare and data centre to water treatment and mining.

“This is an exciting and transformational product launch,” boasted Tom Cromwell, group president, Power, for Kohler. “We expect strong response to these advanced new gensets that will offer beneficial cost savings and unrivalled performance to our customers all around the globe.”

To help with the product’s roll-out, Drumco Énergie—a Kohler Power Systems distributor—hosted a Workshop at its Drummondville HQ back in March, attracting over 80 engineers who were interested, not only in the new KD Series, but also in presentations on CSA C-282 standards and related subjects, including genset size selection, numbers and types of circuit breakers, sound level and regulations, fuel supply and types of automatic transfer switches.

“Kohler invested heavily in the development of this brand new diesel engine that meets Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements for the United States and Canada,” explained Côté. “Engineers need this technical update, and Drumco is pleased to welcome them.”

The new gensets are powered by an entirely new line of Kohler G-Drive engines, which deliver between 709 kWm and 3608 kWm standby power at 50Hz, and between 891 kWm and 4250 kWm standby power at 60Hz. The KD Series, in fact, was recognized at MCEE 2017 with a Product Showcase award.
