New Jack Funk scholarship for BC’s electrical apprentices

The Construction Foundation of BC and the Electrical Contractors Association of BC announced the creation of the ECABC Jack Funk Scholarship to provide financial support to electrical apprentices in the province. “Providing financial and educational supports to electrical apprentices is an important action for ECABC to encourage the next generation of electrical workers,” said Derek Fettback, association chair and vice-president of Western Pacific Enterprises.

EWEL moves main Edmonton branch to accommodate growth

EWEL has relocated its main Edmonton branch from 124 Avenue to 11604 186 Street NW, Edmonton. EWEL is an Edmonton-based electrical wholesaler serving residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors. The company says its previous location could not accommodate the company’s growth and expanding operations. At 43,000 square feet, the new location is larger than the previous one, and features easy access to major roads and highways.

Investment in non-residential building construction “stable”

Investment in building construction declined 1.2% to $19.9 billion in May, reports Statistics Canada. The non-residential sector was stable (0.0%) at $5.9 billion, while the residential sector decreased 1.7% to $14.0 billion.
