Chemco and Horse Lake FN aim to “reshape” energy industry

Industrial contractor Chemco (Nisku, Alta.) has formed a new partnership with Horse Lake First Nation Oilfield Construction Corp. (HOCC), calling it a “pivotal step that will reshape the energy industry in northwest Alberta”. “The synergy of HOCC’s intimate local expertise and Chemco’s capacity for large-scale operations signals an exciting time for the resources sector throughout the region,” says Chemco.

Purolator sets aside $1 billion for fleet decarbonization

Purolator Inc. announced it expects to spend about $1 billion to electrify its Canadian network over the next seven years. This includes a plan to purchase more than 3500 fully electric last-mile delivery vehicles, and the electrification of more than 60 terminals across Canada. The courier expects to add over 100 all-electric vehicles to its fleet this year, and an additional 150 in 2024.

Building permit report – May 2023

The total monthly value of building permits in Canada increased 10.5% in May to $10.5 billion, reports Statistics Canada. The total monthly value of non-residential permits rose 14.2% to $3.7 billion in May. Commercial permits surged (+45.8% or +$703.4 million), more than offsetting monthly losses in the institutional component (-23.3% or -$251.3 million). » Read more
