Eaton Canada graduates first class of EV-certified installers

October 18, 2011 | By Anthony Capkun

October 17, 2011 – To help homeowners locate electricians specializing in electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) installation, Eaton Canada undertook an EV training program within its Eaton Certified Contractor Network (ECCN) program. At a training session in Milton, Ont., last week, 45 electricians and 22 companies earned their ECCN certification for the installation of EVSE—the first in Canada to receive this designation.

Homeowners can arrange for an ECCN contractor to visit their home to determine whether it can support a charging station. During the inspection, the contractor will explain all the steps involved in the install (including required electrical upgrades when applicable). During the install, many contractors will use Eaton’s new EV Simulator to test the functionality of the EVSE onsite.
