EB CAREERS: IEEE seeks executive director; Prendergast stepping downDate Posted: February 23, 2017 - Date Ends: December 31, 2017
February 23, 2017 - The Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE) announced its current executive director—Dr. E. James Prendergast—is retiring in early 2018, and the search is on for his replacement.
Prendergast joined IEEE as executive director in 2009. During his tenure, IEEE says its global presence expanded, with new offices in Vienna, Austria and Bangalore, along with expansions in China, Japan and Singapore. More recently, James orchestrated the acquisition of IEEE GlobalSpec and the Engineering360 platform.
The IEEE executive director leads 1200 professional staff members at 11 U.S. and overseas locations. Working with the board of directors, “the position is responsible for contributing to the development of IEEE’s strategy and for implementing the business plan to operationalize IEEE’s strategic direction”.
The board has retained Korn Ferry to conduct the search for a new executive director.
