EHRC is calling all women in Alberta’s electricity workforce

July 18, 2013 – Electricity Human Resources Canada (EHRC) is looking for women working within Alberta’s electricity workforce to be featured in video profiles for its Bridging the Gap project.

The project aims to increase the presence of women in the industry by examining barriers around their recruitment and retention. Project activities will include the identification of best practices that can be used nationally to support the industry in developing successful partnerships that will positively impact the representation of women in the sector, networking dinners for women, and a series of videos targeting women that highlight occupations in the industry.

The association seeks women in Alberta who work in any of the following occupations:

• power system operator
• mechanical engineering technician or technologist
• electrical technologist or technician
• civil engineer
• power system electrician
• power station operator
• industrial mechanic/millwright
• electrical engineer
• powerline technician
• mechanical engineer
