May 8, 2013 – Hydro Ottawa reports that today, May 8, an electrical incident occurred before noon at 265 Poulin Avenue in the western portion of its service territory. Two Hydro Ottawa employees were re-energizing an electrical vault after maintenance work had been completed when an electrical flash occurred.

Both Hydro Ottawa employees were injured and are receiving medical care: one at the Queensway-Carleton Hospital and the other at the Civic Campus of the Ottawa Hospital.

The Ministry of Labour and Hydro Ottawa are investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The thoughts and support of the entire Hydro Ottawa organization are with our colleagues and their families at this time,” says the utility.
