The City of Surrey is British

of 410,000 citizens. Within this demanding environment, an opportunity
for an Environmental Technician exists in the Planning & Development
Department:

Responsible for, inspectional and
regulatory work including supervision and the direction of others in
checking/inspection all types of electrical installations and plans to
assess the design, material, workmanship and safety devices for
compliance with related by-laws, regulations and codes.

You have proven
work management and supervisory skills; the ability to coordinate the
Fire and Life Safety System Testing with other inspectors, contractors
and engineers. Advanced knowledge of the electrical trade, applicable
by-laws, regulations and codes; approved electrical materials and
equipment and related codes, standards and processes. Must be physically
capable of performing related duties and able to work outdoors in all
types of weather.

Completion of Grade 12 with an
apprenticeship in the electrical trade is required. Also, a minimum 5
years experience as a Journeyman Electrician in a supervisory capacity
or contractor, or 3 years experience as a Municipal or City Electrical
Inspector is required. A valid BC Driver’s License with a safe driving
history and provincial certificate of qualifications as an Electrical
Inspector is essential.
