October 18, 2012 | By Anthony Capkun

October 18, 2012 – EBMag has learned the upcoming 5th annual Corporate and Community Social Responsibility (CCSR) Conference—being held November 6, 2012, at Algonquin College in Ottawa—will feature a special session entitled “Emerging Priorities: Managing Sustainability in the Electrical & Electronics Industry”.

Moderated by John Jefkins, director marketing & communications for Electro-Federation Canada, Session 6 discusses how the concept of the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse & Recycle) is being expanded to reduce the impact on environmental and social concerns. New products must be designed to be eco-friendly from birth, through the manufacturing process, to the end of their life cycles. Transformation is taking place through energy efficiency, renewable energy and extended producer responsibility initiatives, which makes an impact on communities and consumers’ product choices.

The panelists include: Dave Rycroft, VP energy products & services, Sonepar Canada; Scott Saffian, global EV platform leader, GE Energy, Industrial Solutions; and Shelagh Kerr, president & CEO, Electronics Product Stewardship Canada.
