January 17, 2023 | By Anthony Capkun

January 17, 2023 – Electricity Canada (formerly Canadian Electricity Association) and Smart Grid Innovation Network (SGIN) Canada have entered into a collaborative agreement “to share knowledge and create a climate of cooperation that initiates a new direction for both organizations to better serve the professional needs of the members, industry, and community”.

Electricity Canada members generate, transmit, and distribute electrical energy across Canada. Members include electric utilities, independent power producers, transmission and distribution companies, etc. SGIN’s membership includes electric utilities, suppliers, other associations, etc.

“The key to bringing the energy sector toward a low-carbon economy is collaboration,” said Francis Bradley, president & CEO, Electricity Canada. “As leaders in the industry, this partnership between Electricity Canada and its members and SGIN will ensure that energy transition benefits all Canadians and future generations to come.”

The partners say Canada has many unique and untapped opportunities in smart energy, renewable energy, clean technology, ocean technology, electricity infrastructure, and sustainable buildings that can contribute to economic development and ensure a long-term resilient future for the country.
