ElectroFed Swati Patel elevated to director of communications
January 11, 2011 | By Anthony Capkun
Electro-Federation Canada (EFC), a not-for-profit industry association, has promoted Swati Patel to director, communications. She reports to Jim Taggart, EFC’s new president and CEO.
Patel joined EFC in 2005 as a communications specialist, then promoted to manager, communications in 2008. In this capacity, she worked closely with the Supply & Distribution (S&D) Council to promote programs and events, while developing and managing some internal and external communications activities for EFC and its councils.
In her new role, Patel will continue to work closely with the S&D Council, but has the added responsibility of managing all communications activities for EFC and its councils. This includes strategically positioning EFC so that it increasingly becomes recognized by government, media and other stakeholders as the “go-to-association” for information on issues related to sustainability, product safety, energy efficiency and environment. She will also work closely with a newly-appointed EFC Communications Committee, which includes marketing professionals from within the industry, to “ensure all of the association’s communications activities are aligned with market and members’ needs”.
“By centralizing the communications function so that it becomes an EFC service to all councils and, in turn, a value-added service for members, enables a singular voice for all EFC communications and representation,” said Taggart.
