November 24, 2015 - Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO), the organization that manages the province’s power system—has offered contracts to five companies for nine separate energy storage projects totalling 16.75 MW.

November 19, 2015 - An experimental energy management and storage system was recently inaugurated and connected to the Romande Energie-École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) solar park in Switzerland, where researchers will use it to study new industrial-scale solutions for using renewable energies (esp. solar) and feeding them into the grid as part of the EPFL Smart Grid project.
November 18, 2015 - A Ryerson University-led pilot project demonstrating the promise of pole-top energy storage was unveiled earlier today at the university’s Centre for Urban Energy (CUE) and is, apparently, the first application of this kind in the world.
October 19, 2015 - Mitsubishi Electric, a manufacturer of uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), has announced the AEGIS series UPS as the successor to its 9900A series. AEGIS is a three-phase, on-line double-conversion system and features Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT) technology. The series is available in 80, 100, 150, 160, and 225 kVA and is UL924 listed.
September 24, 2015 - A team of Harvard scientists and engineers say they have demonstrated a rechargeable battery that could make the storage of electricity from intermittent energy sources like solar and wind safe and cost-effective for both residential and commercial use.
August 31, 2015 - PowerStream says it broke ground last week on the construction of a system that, when completed in 2016, will provide up to 11 hours of backup power supply for approximately 400 of the utility’s customers in Penetanguishene, Ont.
July 13, 2015 - Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (MMC) and Mitsubishi Corp. (MC) have launched a joint demonstration project for utilizing used lithium-ion batteries from electric-powered vehicles “to demonstrate efficient and economically feasible energy management practices based on the optimization of electricity storage, charging and generation technology with respect to existing demand”.
June 23, 2015 - NRStor and General Compression Inc.—both proponents of compressed air energy storage (CAES) technology—report that a study they commissioned finds the technology for storing excess energy generated by green sources could save Ontario up to $8 billion over a 20-year period.
June 17, 2015 - Saft has launched its new Intensium Home 10M lithium-ion (Li-ion) energy storage system for high-end residential and small commercial solar PV installations.
June 8, 2015 - GE’s renewable energy business recently announced it will supply Convergent Energy + Power, a technology-neutral energy storage asset development company, with a 7MW/hour battery energy storage system for the Ontario Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO). The solution features GE’s Mark VI plant control system with SCADA, Brilliance MW inverters, packaged lithium ion battery modules, medium-voltage transformers and switchgear integration.
May 21, 2015 - Rosewater Energy Group has expanded their residential energy management hub product line to four models. The 10kW and 20kW hubs with nano-carbon battery technology are already available, and the 10kW and 20kW lithium-ion battery models will be available later this year, according to the company.
May 11, 2015 - NRStor Inc., an energy storage project developer and operator, and Opus One Solutions Energy Corp., a smart grid software engineering company, are partnering to bring Tesla's Powerwall Home Battery to Canada.
May 7, 2015 - SolarEdge Technologies reports it is collaborating with Tesla Motors to provide an inverter solution that will allow for grid and photovoltaic integration with Tesla’s home battery plan, the Powerwall.
May 7, 2015 - Canadian owned and operated Enerdynamic Hybrid Technologies Corp. (EHT) has been awarded a contract by IQ TPI Engineering to build 87 micro-utility systems in Senegal, Africa.
