Generation
Generac Power Systems Inc.’s EcoGen generator is the first automatic standby generator, says the company, that is warranted for off-grid use when used in an alternative energy system. Whether one is living off-grid by choice or as a requirement, EcoGen is an “affordable, reliable, propane-fuelled alternative”. EcoGen works in conjunction with existing solar or wind power energy generation. When the power from these sources dips below an acceptable level, the inverter charger automatically signals the generator to start up. Additional features include: standby capacity of 6 kW at 120V with 240V conversion capability; three-year/2000-hour limited warranty for off-grid applications using alternative energy; Generac’s V-Twin OHVI industrial engine and more.GENERAC POWER SYSTEMS
Generac Power Systems has reengineered its GP Series of portable generators; they are the first in the industry, boasts Generac, to feature a design that’s 15% smaller than previous models, have covered outlets to provide protection from outdoor elements and, depending on the model, offer an easy-to-read fuel gauge, hour meter with maintenance resets, dual 120-volt outlets and a 30A twist-lock with circuit breaker protection, and a fold-down locking handle for portability. The GP15000E and GP17500E models feature Generac OHVI engines with pressurized oil lubrication for performance and long life.GENERAC POWER SYSTEMS
Kohler Power Systems has revamped its 150kW, 180kW and 200kW diesel-fuelled industrial generators. Enhancements to these gensets include an all-new digital controller, enclosure improvements and fuel tank upgrades. Standard on all three power nodes, the new digital Decision-Maker 3000 controller facilitates an “aesthetically and functionally clean unit” in terms of generator management. Integrated into the junction box panel, it uses a digital design, display and interface to provide all vital operational data. Additionally, controller configuration, diagnostics and software updates can call be performed using the built-in USB port. The new controller features plug-in diagnostics monitoring, as well as a remote serial annunciator. Kohler has also eliminated the need for a separate field circuit breaker for the alternator by programming this preventive measure into the Decision-Maker 3000. Available immediately, the gensets provide standby and prime power for a variety of commercial and industrial applications.KOHLER POWER SYSTEMS
Caterpillar announced the availability of the XQ1250G natural gas mobile generator set. Sold and rented exclusively through Cat dealers, it is rated for continuous operation at 1250kW 480/277V 60Hz. It promises an easy-to-use control system to parallel with other Cat generators or with an electric utility. The XQ1250G power module employs a low emission G3516B engine with integrated exhaust after-treatment. It operates on low-pressure natural gas and is equipped with an active air-to-fuel ratio controller to allow for varying fuel energy content. The G3516B engine, fuel regulation components, control and distribution system, and cooling package are housed in a sound-attenuated 40 ft ISO container. The design of the XQ1250G includes 100% spill containment of all engine fluids.CATERPILLAR
Kohler Co. announced the availability of its new line of EPA-certified 180kW to 400kW natural gas- and propane-fueled industrial generators, which provide standby and prime power for a variety of industrial applications. There’s a choice of natural gas or propane single-fuel, as well as a dual-fuel option. The expanded lineup is complemented by Kohler-designed and manufactured Decision Maker controllers, as well as automatic transfer switches and switchgear. Weather-protective and sound-attenuated enclosure options (steel and aluminum) are available, as well as a full line of standard accessories, including block heaters, battery chargers, higher motor starting alternators and multiple circuit breakers.KOHLER
Caterpillar offers the G3512E natural gas-fuelled generator set, designed for extended-duty distributed generation and combined heat and power (CHP) applications. Driven by a Cat electronically controlled, lean-burn gaseous-fuelled reciprocating engine, the G3512E genset offer a high power density and fuel efficiency while maintaining tight NOx control. It can operate on pipeline natural gas with a range of methane numbers without, says Cat, sacrificing efficiency and performance, delivering up to 41.7% ISO electrical efficiency without water pumps. The genset operates at 50Hz/1500 rpm with Miller Combustion Cycle and is rated at 1000ekW. A digital microprocessor Gas Engine Control Module is standard; it automatically regulates ignition, engine governing and air/fuel ratio for fuel economy and NOx control.CATERPILLAR
