October 13, 2016 - BC Hydro has released an independent review of the Site C project’s risk and cost management processes by Ernst & Young LLP and BTY Consultancy Group Inc., who found it "well defined" and that the "processes for managing risks and costs are largely representative of leading practices".
September 30, 2016 - Kohler Power Systems says it has completed its first industrial standby diesel generator line powered by a Kohler engine. The fully-integrated Kohler product line utilizes Kohler’s Direct Injection (KDI) diesel engines and includes both Tier 3 and Tier 4 Final models ranging from 15kW to 60kW.

September 29, 2016 - SaskPower has awarded a contract to Burns & McDonnell for engineer/procure/construct (EPC) services for the new Chinook Power Station, a 350MW natural gas-fired power facility to be located in rural south-western Saskatchewan, near Swift Current. The company issued a formal notice to proceed in July and engineering design is underway.
September 26, 2016 - The Alberta government has announced a three-member expert panel to meet with community, labour and industry leaders in regions affected by the transition away from coal-fired electricity generation.

September 20, 2016 - NB Power says it is working to improve survival rates of wild Atlantic Salmon and other fish species on the St. John River watershed with new facilities at Trouser Lake and the installation of a downstream fish passage at the Tobique Generating Station. Work will take place this fall as well as in Spring 2017.
September 16, 2016 - SaskPower’s new natural gas-fired power plant near Swift Current, Sask. will be named Chinook Power Station when it comes online in late 2019.
September 14, 2016 - BC Hydro has ushered in an $800,000 fund to support Peace Region non-profit organizations, the Generate Opportunities (GO) Fund, which will be distributed over an 8-year period to organizations that provide services to vulnerable populations including children, families and seniors.
