February 27, 2017 - Demand for electricity in downtown Vancouver is expected to grow by over 75% over the next 30 years, says BC Hydro, which currently operates three substations in the downtown core. Of those, Murrin and Dal Grauer substations are nearing end-of-life and need to be replaced.
February 21, 2017 - Manitoba Hydro says it is moving forward with building two transmission lines after receiving an Environment Act Licence from the province on January 30.
January 17, 2017 - ABB reports it has completed a major upgrade of the 350MW Madawaska high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link connecting the grids of Quebec and New Brunswick, prompting ABB’s Claudio Facchin to say, “This upgrade will enhance power availability, reduce outages and improve grid reliability in the region”.
January 4, 2017 - SaskPower is upgrading portions of the power grid in the north area of the province, including: Prince Albert, Shellbrook, Rosthern, Candle Lake and surrounding rural areas.
January 3, 2017 - The second phase of a three-year modernization project in St. Catharines, Ont.—totalling $4.8 million—has been completed on time, according to Horizon Utilities.
December 15, 2016 - Today, Quebec’s and Ontario’s premiers—Philippe Couillard and Kathleen Wynne—attended the signing of an electricity trade agreement between Hydro-Quebec and Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator that will see IESO purchase a total of 14 TWh of electricity from the utility from 2017 to 2023.

November 11, 2016 - Horizon Utilities is nearing completion of an infrastructure modernization project that will accommodate Metrolinx’s new GO Train Layover Facility on Lewis Road in Stoney Creek, Ont., which will be a storage yard supporting Ontario’s expanded GO commuter services to the Hamilton and Niagara area.
November 8, 2016 - SaskPower says its has been working on projects worth $13 million in the Wynyard-Wadena area in Saskatchewan to keep up with growing demand and renew an aging power grid.
November 1, 2016 - Hydro One announced yesterday that it completed the purchase of Great Lakes Power Transmission LP, following approval of the transaction by the Ontario Energy Board on October 13, 2016.
