Green Energy Doors Open 2016
From Friday 09 September 2016
To Sunday 11 September 2016
Location: Across Ontario & Alberta
Green Energy Doors Open is a campaign brought to you by the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA). It’s a province-wide, year-round communications campaign and showcase of individual, community and commercial sustainable energy projects organized and spearheaded by OSEA. The initiative aims to showcase advancements in the sector, demonstrating that Ontario is already on the path to building a 100% sustainable energy system.
The event is free to participate in as a host and to attend. In 2014, Green Energy Doors Open expanded into Alberta through a partnership with Decentralised Energy Canada (DEC). Both Alberta and Ontario events will run parallel on the weekend of September 9-11, 2016.
In 2015, the initiative featured 150 events in Ontario and Alberta with more than 5000 attendees. Host events are plotted on a special Google map and added to a database of case studies to use for government relations work.
In 2011, OSEA hosted the first Green Energy Field Day to promote sustainable energy and efficiency and knowledge of the Green Energy Act and the Feed-in Tariff programs. The event took place on September 24, 2011, and saw 30 OSEA member companies and organizations hosting events of varying sizes across the province. Visit wattsnext.ca for a full profile of the Field Day.
Green Energy Doors Open 2013 (GEDO13) was OSEA’s next province-wide showcase of local individual, community, public and commercial sustainable energy projects, businesses, manufacturing sites, education programs and other related initiatives. It boasted 66 events in 44 different communities, attended by over 1000 participants. You can read the full Post-Event Report HERE.
Green Energy Doors Open 2016 is targeting a participation of 170 event hosts in 80 communities, for about 7000 participants.
