Renos for Heroes is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, as is its annual gala—Hearts for Heroes—being held February 29, 2020, at the Universal EventSpace in Vaughan, Ont.

Now a registered charity, Renos for Heroes was founded 10 years ago by Jim Caruk, who was shocked when he learned his friend’s son—who had come home badly injured after serving overseas—didn’t have full mobility in his own home. As a contractor, Jim knew he could make a difference, and Renos for Heroes was born.

Andrew Knisley lost his right leg after stepping on an IED in Afghanistan. To help get him outside and enjoying the outdoors once again, Renos built him a wheelchair-accessible deck and gazebo.

The 10th anniversary gala “promises to be spectacular”, with dinner by PeterandPaul’s, a live auction, raffles, special musical entertainment and an evening of dancing.

All proceeds from the gala help support Renos’ goal of providing essential building and support services to Canada’s injured soldiers.
