Extech EX210 infrared-enabled multimeter

July 13, 2010 | By Anthony Capkun

Extech Instruments (the wholly owned subsidiary of FLIR) introduced what it calls “the most affordable infrared-enabled multimeter ever”. The EX210 is a rugged and compact multimeter complemented by a patented IR thermometer. It is suitable for identifying overheating motors or locating hot spots on electrical panels without contact. The built-in IR thermometer with laser pointer features a 4:1 distance-to-target ratio and a range from -5 to 446°F. The four-digit backlit display is large and easy to read. The digital multimeter measures current, voltage, resistance and IR temperature. The EX210 is Cat III 600V rated, making it suitable for electrical troubleshooting on electronics, appliances, inside building circuits including service panels and switchboards, distribution panels, three-phase feeders and branch circuits, and single-phase branch circuits connected to the service panel.
