September 26, 2017 — Extech has launched the Extech MG320, a CAT IV 20GΩ/1000V insulation tester with integrated True RMS multimeter. Extech says the product, which is Category IV 600V overvoltage safety-rated, is “ideal” for industrial predictive maintenance programs that include routine insulation testing of electrical and electronic equipment and cables.

The tool puts insulation testing up to 1kV (1000V) and a 20GΩ range in a portable tester, optimized for testing motors, generators, transformers and other electrical components.

The MG320 offers users five test voltages (50V, 100V, 250V, 1000V) and step voltage in 10% increments from 50 to 120% of range. Featuring a comparison mode, technicians can also use the MG320 to customize Pass/Fail values for the varying requirements of insulation tests on gear around a jobsite.
