Fake Whitby electrician fined 10 thousand for providing false information

November 25, 2010 | By Craig Pearson

Lloyd Dawkins was fined $10,000 on November 3 for knowingly providing false information to an Ontario Ministry of Labour inspector.

On October 29, 2008, an MOL inspector was doing a routine inspection at a construction project on the corner of Taunton and Garrard roads in Whitby, Ont. The inspector noticed Dawkins performing electrical work and asked whether he was authorized to do that type of work. Dawkins produced a Provisional Certification of Qualification that was forged due to an altered expiry date.

Dawkins was, thus, found guilty of knowingly furnishing an MOL inspector with false information.

On top of the $10,000 fine, the court imposed a 25% victim fine surcharge, which is credited to a “special provincial government fund to assist victims of crime”.
