Fire damages mobile unit at Yellowknife’s Jackfish plant

August 24, 2015 | By Renée Francoeur

August 24, 2015 – A mobile generator at the Northwest Territories Power Corp.’s (NTPC) Jackfish plant sustained damage from a fire earlier this month, NTPC says. No one was injured during the incident and no power outage occurred.

The Yellowknife Fire Department responded to a fire in a mobile unit, located in a trailer adjacent to the plant. The fire was extinguished and the company says the fire marshal continues to investigate the cause. No foul play is suspected at this time.

“Once the site is deemed safe by the fire department, NTPC will‎ determine the extent of the damage,” said Mike Ocko, acting president and CEO, on August 18. “I would like to thank the Yellowknife Fire Department for their quick response.”
