First 131MW commissioned for Seigneurie de Beaupré wind farms

November 29, 2013 – Boralex Inc., Gaz Métro Ltd. Partnership and Valener Inc. have announced commercial commissioning of the first 131MW of Phase I in the Seigneurie de Beaupré wind farms, Que. Within the next few days, an additional 141MW will also be commissioned to help completed the largest phase of the project.

“After more than eight years of hard work by the Boralex and Gaz Métro teams, we are proud that the first 62 turbines are supplying green energy to Quebec’s power grid,” said Sophie Brochu, president and CEO of Gaz Métro, and Patrick Lemaire, president and CEO of Boralex.

According to the partners, 50,000 Quebec homes can be supplied with electricity annually through the 272MW generated from Phase I.

Jacques Roberge, superior general of the Séminaire de Québec, continued, “Concluding this important step on schedule is proof that we are working with quality partners, Quebecers no less, and we are extremely happy that we will be continuing a long-term relationship with them to operate and develop the site.”

2014 continues with Phase II, with a capacity of 68 MW, and in 2015 the 25MW community project will complete the wind farm.
