September 28, 2020 – The FLIR Si124 industrial acoustic imaging camera senses, displays and records sound waves to produce an acoustic image that can be overlaid—in real time—onto a digital camera image. The blended image helps users pinpoint issues up to 10x faster than traditional inspection methods for common mechanical, electrical, vacuum and compressor systems, says FLIR.

The one-handed solution weighs all of 980 g, and is effective for verifying the existence of partial discharge (corona, arcing and tracking), or locating compressed air leaks. Built with 124 microphones and a high-definition visible-light camera, the battery-powered FLIR Si124 can detect potential issues up to 100 m away, even in loud industrial environments, for up to 7 hours of continuous use.

Additional functionality is realized with the FLIR Acoustic Camera Viewer cloud service. Images are uploaded over Wi-Fi to the cloud, where they are analyzed to provide in-depth information, such as the PD classification and pattern of an electric fault. Users also get 8 GB of storage and wireless data transfer capabilities.
