FOA (Fiber Optic Association) published a new textbook entitled, “FOA Reference Guide to Outside Plant Fiber Optics”, which has been designed to both train OSP fiber optic technicians studying for the new FOA OSP certification, and as a reference guide for anyone interested in OSP FO.

The textbook is the third in a series of printed reference guides from
FOA covering basic FO, premises cabling (fiber, copper and wireless)
and, now, outside plant FO cabling. It was developed from new material
on FOA’s Online Reference Guide .

Outside plant fiber optics include applications like telephone and
wireless backhaul, CATV, municipal networks, utility smart grid and any
network installed outside buildings. The textbook covers all types of
OSP installations, including underground, buried, aerial and submarine,
along with associated specialized components, installation techniques
and testing requirements for these applications.
