December 8, 2017 — ABB has launched TruONE, a new automatic transfer switch (ATS) with connectivity and monitoring functions for critical power applications.

The company says TruONE is the first ATS to package all the necessary sensors and controllers into a single device that helps improve protection and makes installation 80% faster. The product requires only a single wire and standard enclosures to install.

Protection during manual operation is increased with the elevated handle mounted to the ATS frame, so there is no need to open the panel door, says ABB. Line voltage no longer needs to be connected to the door, since the detachable HMI is isolated from the lines.

Additionally, the product is the first ATS with a built-in predictive maintenance functionality that monitors its own condition and its environment with temperature monitoring, the company says.

With seven communications protocols, the TruONE ATS is part of the ABB Ability portfolio of software-enabled and connected solutions. The device meets the requirements of both IEC and UL.

“The all-new TruONE makes critical power a whole lot simpler with less wiring and more intelligence,” said Dave Sterlace, ABB’s global head of data center technology. “Hospitals, data centers and telecommunications installations will be among the first to benefit from this technology.”
