October 16, 2017 – The second project under SaskPower’s Flare Gas Power Generation Program is now online and contributing 750kW to Saskatchewan’s grid.

“Our flare gas program presents an opportunity to help oil & gas producers reduce their greenhouse gas emissions through converting waste flare gas into electricity for the people of Saskatchewan,” said SaskPower’s Tim Eckel.

Located near Kerrobert, the project was developed by TERIC Power Ltd. in partnership with Kaybob Energy Corp., uses flare gas from oil wells owned by Sphere Energy Corp.

“A facility that generates a valuable electricity commodity from a previously wasted energy source creates a very welcome additional revenue stream for the producer,” said TERIC’s Craig Barnes. “This project—hopefully the first of many for TERIC—is made possible by SaskPower’s flare gas program.”
