German-engineered solar modules to be made in Ontario

December 29, 2010 | By Alyssa Dalton

Germany’s Sovello, a manufacturer of solar modules, is partnering with AS Solar Inc. of Mt. Albert, Ont. to launch its Project Pro Module to be made in Ontario. Production in Q1 of 2011 will be in limited quantities, with up to 2 megawatts per month scheduled the rest of the year.

The German-engineered modules are designed to meet Canadian manufacturing standards and Sovello says it hopes the Ontario-made modules will bring welcome relief to the province’s solar PV market.

“We identified Ontario as one of most dynamic renewable energy markets in North America, and we are pleased to participate with our value proposition, creation of jobs and contribution to Ontario’s green economy,” says Jan Dressel, Managing Director of Sovello Canada

“AS Solar is excited to team up with Sovello as the anchor distributor of their ‘Made in Ontario’ solar panels. This quality product delivers high yields that will result in strong ROIs and benefits to the environment for more than 20 years,” adds Ian Karleff, managing director of AS Solar Inc.
